Alexander Hamilton may be on our ten dollar bill but he never "ascended" to the presidency of the United States. Even without sitting in our highest office he ousted Jefferson's dream of an agrarian nation filled with highly educated, Greek reading, liberty loving, tomato growing citizens living close to the state of nature. Hamilton all but trampled this idea with his dreams of a national banking system, a strong central government, and a national defense system.
